KEY NOTE FACULTY
Dr. Laura Van Gerven is a Belgian medical doctor and an esteemed specialist in otorhinolaryngology (ENT), with a focus on rhinology, endoscopic sinus surgery, and skull base surgery. She graduated as a medical doctor in 2009 and completed her specialization in otorhinolaryngology in 2017 at KU Leuven, Belgium. In 2014, she obtained a doctoral degree in biomedical sciences at KU Leuven, with a thesis on the pathophysiology of non-allergic rhinitis. She further honed her expertise by completing a fellowship in endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery at Hospital Clinic, Barcelona.

Since October 2017, Dr. Van Gerven has been serving as a staff member in the ENT department at the University Hospitals of Leuven (UZ Leuven). In 2018, she was appointed Assistant Professor at KU Leuven. Her clinical practice includes consultations in rhinology and allergy, with a focus on sinus problems, tumors, and anterior skull base surgery. She holds consultations at UZ Leuven’s Gasthuisberg campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Dr. Van Gerven’s research interests encompass various endotypes of rhinitis and rhinosinusitis, as well as olfactory dysfunction in COVID-19. She is actively involved in academic and clinical research, contributing to advancements in her field.
